The United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties offers two options for FREE tax preparation! Many people in Lackawanna and Wayne Counties are eligible to file their taxes for free and can receive help preparing their forms through these programs which help taxpayers in our community save an average of $200 in fees. Many tax clients also find they're eligible to get money back from the IRS, through Earned Income Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits and other credits.

in person - volunteer income tax assistance (VITA)

Our IRS-certified, trained volunteers will prepare and file your federal, state and local income tax return in person for FREE!

  • Walk-in service is provided by the University of Scranton at Brennan Hall (Madison Ave., Scranton)
