The United Way
of Lackawanna
and Wayne
Counties is
approved by the
Pennsylvania
Department of
Community and
Economic
Development as a
Pre-Kindergarten
Scholarship
Organization,
and we are proud
to say that we
led the way as
one o
f
the first United
Ways in
Pennsylvania to
receive this
designation.
Our
Pre-Kindergarten
Scholarship
Program offers
tuition
assistance to
children from
financially
eligible
families
attending or
wishing to
attend approved
pre-school
programs that
meet the
stringent
guidelines set
forth by the
DCED. Last year,
more than
$328,000 was
raised through
this program to
benefit children
in 4 counties in
NEPA. Since the
program's local
inception in
2005, area
companies have
donated more
than $840,000 to
help nearly 460
children attend
preschool and
begin the
journey of
life-long
learning.
Businesses that
qualify may
receive a tax
credit to
100% of
the first
$10,000
contributed
during the
taxable year to
the United Way
of Lackawanna
and Wayne
Counties through
this program.
The business may
also receive a
tax credit equal
to 90%
of any
additional
amount
contributed
during the
taxable year, up
to a maximum of
$150,000.

submitted in time, you may choose to give all completed paperwork to
the United Way, and we will personally deliver it to Harrisburg for
